Chiang Mai, Thailand

The most visited and revered temple in Chiang Mai is Wat Phra That Doi Suthep. Located atop Doi Suthep mountain. There is a legend about a white elephant carrying a Buddha relic to the site. The temple's construction is said to be based on this legend, where the elephant died after arriving at the mountain's summit. The original gold plated chedi holds sacred relics and is the most holy area of the temple grounds.
